Government Arts and Science College started functioning in the year 2022 to meet the great
demand in the locality for an institution known for excellence in higher education. The
college was opened by the Honourable Chief Minister of Tamilnadu Thiru. M.K. Stalin on
July 27, 2022. It is located in a temporary premises of Sezhkilar Government Boys Higher
Secondary School, Kundrathur. It is one of the sacred place of Lord Muruga and also the
birth place of Tamil poet Sezhkilar who wrote Periyapuranam.
The college was started with
five courses namely B.A (Tamil), B.A (English), BCom (General), BBA and BSc Computer
Science. The first year classes were inaugurated by the Honourable Minister of Small, Micro
and Medium industries Thiru T,M, Anbarasan and Thiru. K. Selvaperunthagai MLA of
Sriperumpudhur Assembly Constituency on September 5, 2022. Out of 240 sanctioned
strength 222 students were admitted in the first year courses.
The institution plays a crucial
role in providing constructive pragmatic educational services to the students hailing from
socially and economically marginalized sections.
